2017 Panda Competition Presentation Ceremony Successfully Held at the Chinese Embassy

On Nov. 7th, 2017 Panda Competition Presentation Ceremony was successfully Held in the Chinese Embassy. Nearly 300 people including Minister Cai Wei, heads of relevant offices of the Embassy, Mrs. Carol keil, the president of Australia China Friendship Society, ACT Branch, representative from the ACT Education Directorate, students from 7 schools and their principals, teachers and parents attended the ceremony.

Minister Cai Wei expressed his welcome on behalf of H.E. Mr. Cheng Jingye, ambassador of China to all participants to the Embassy as guests. He said that the Panda Competition with the topic on Chinese costumes has promoted mutual understanding and respect between our two peoples. Just as the Chinese leader pointed out, all countries should replace estrangement with exchange, clashes with mutual learning and superiority with coexistence. The year 2017 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties established between China and Australia. He hoped that all students could contribute to the healthy development of the bilateral relations between China and Australia by acting as envoys of friendship. Mrs. Carol Keil and Mrs. Rachel Matthews, Principal of Torrens Primary School expressed their thanks to the Embassy for its support. Two students from Mawson Primary School expressed on behalf of all the prize winners their appreciation for the prizes in Chinese and English.

Several hundreds of students participated in the competition. They expressed their understanding and love of the Chinese costume by means of painting, paper cuts, origami and hand-sewn works.
