Li Keqiang Holds Telephone Talks at Request with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany

On the evening of September 4, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang held telephone talks at request with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany.

Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke positively of the progress made in China-Germany relations and cooperation.

Angela Merkel said, the German side attaches importance to developing its relations with China and looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China through my upcoming 12th visit to China and sending positive signals that Germany and China maintain a sound momentum of development in bilateral relations in the face of the current complex international situation.

Li Keqiang welcomed Angela Merkel’s visit to China, and pointed out that the two countries face many common challenges against the background of profound and complex changes in the international landscape. The Chinese side stands ready to make joint efforts with the German side to enhance understanding and mutual trust, deepen comprehensive cooperation, uphold multilateralism and free trade, and promote the sustained and sound development of bilateral relations.

Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel also exchanged views on issues of common concern.
